Burning Man

Headed to the festival Burning Man this year? Check out my blog posts below! Burning Man quick resources for medical, Rangers, open camping, a map of the event layout, and more at the bottom of this page.

I’m a veteran Burner who’s been to the playa 10 times and through volunteering at the event I’ve gathered many secret tips to help you make the most of you Burn. I’ve also attended for only $120 in 2023, so if you’re poor like me –– it is possible! My cost guide explains how I managed this.

Burning Man is this crazy chaotic event in the Nevada desert! It’s not really a “music festival” and if you let me or any other Veteran hear you say that, we will get offended!

It’s more of a temporary city, art gallery, communal experience, workshop space, and a little dancing. Most people who ask me about Burning Man don’t know that it’s not all electronic music dancing, there are loads of workshops in the day! (Also it’s not just EDM, there’s jazz, blues, hip-hop, disco, and more!)

After you attend Burning Man, you’ll associate the dust and the mountains with a feeling of euphoria and excitement. It’s such a joy to ride your bike around the playa at 5am, hearing music in the distance, and seeing the sun rise.

I hope my guides can help you plan for your crazy time in desert!

See you in the dust! 🔥

Here are some resources that could help you on the playa!

      Burning Man Quick Resources

Here a few resources for you to jot down before your trip!

      Emergency & Medical Services — Located on playa at 3 & C, 9 & C, and 5:15 & C.
Black Rock Rangers –– If you need help, these are the first people I’d recommend. These volunteers are not law enforcement and can help you in any situation concerning safety, navigation, conflict resolution, and potential bad trips. They have a Burning Man logo patch and wear khaki.
Law Enforcement –– If you need to report a serious situation, but remember they are active policemen and can arrest you if you’re breaking a law, so go to the Rangers first if you’re worried. There are undercover cops as well who may ask you for illegal substances and want to go to your camp. Do not trust random people who ask this!
Burner Express Bus –– Transportation service from Reno and San Francisco to the playa, allowing for easier and faster entry.
Burning Man Profiles –– Making a profile on this site allows you to access the ticket sales.
Spark Classifieds –– This is like a Burner Craigslist or Gumtree, you can post an ad here to find a theme camp! Also check this Facebook Group.
Open Camping –– If you are coming to the playa alone and doing solo camping, you can camp between H & K streets, generally between 2 & 5. If you need help, talk to a Black Rock Ranger or check the Placement Office at 5:59 & Esplanade.
Lost & Found –– Mark your items with your camp & name information! But if you lose or find something, check Lost & Found at Playa Info (5:45 & Esplanade).
American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters –– ASL interpreters can be reached by Playa Info between 9 am and 10 pm. For urgent needs, go to the Black Rock Ranger walk-up windows at Esplanade & 6:30 or find any Burning Man staff with a radio, and they can help page someone.
Ice Sales –– You can buy ice at 3:00 & G, Center Camp, and 9:00 & G Plazas. Last year the prices were $12 for a 16-pound bag of crushed ice and $7 for a 10-pound block of ice.

Here’s a map layout of Black Rock City to help locate these services.
